About

True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist, said Albert Einstein. And, he is right.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up, says Pablo Picasso. And, he is also right.

Ambrose Bierce quips, PAINTINGThe art of protecting flat surfaces from the weather and exposing them to the critic. Now we see light at the end of a very very long tunnel, don’t we?

The two artists I absolutely love are Rembrandt (whose paintings cause me to stare at them non-blinkingly for 5 mins), and J.M.W. Turner (whose paintings cause me to go weak kneed, and forget to breathe ). Some of Picasso’s ink work (line drawings?) captures the essence of the subject at hand, very stylistically, economically and profoundly. And, I like the way Dali mocks reality. When it comes to illustrations, the quirky creations of Quentin Blake and Walter Moers are sheer brilliance.

(Here‘s Quentin Blake showing how he does what he does. Check out how his desk also has the ‘messy’ quality as his illustrations.)
